Help! Pain when bf 8 month old

Not entirely accuratem DD is 8.5 months and it chuffing hurts!

No pain at all in breast, no redness, no lumps, no fever etc to suggest mastitis. The pain begins when she latches and lasts every sick but then lingers after (5 or so mins)

Does the latch change with teeth? Her bottom two caused biting issues at the start which I ignored and we got over, the top 4 are now coming through all at once (2 are cut already with the other two on their way) could it be this that's causing the problem and does it get better?

Hi,

I've been going through this recently with my 6mo (there's a thread on here that I started somewhere) and have just discovered the reason - my periods have just started again and my nipples were painful during ovulation! just a thought it could be the same for you?!

There was some really useful advice on my thread about positioning and latching changes. I think the thread was called something like "sore nipples after 6 months successful bf -why?"

HTH

Thanks will go have a read, it's a but pants this not knowing what's going on with my own body, babies definitely change you forever Smile

Don't think it's periods as I've had a coil put in and that's been well behaved since January but will have a look at the other ideas.

Sounds wrong but hope your nipples feel better Grin

Haha I know what you mean! I naively thought that once I had given birth the 'painful bit' would be over......

Thank you, they have settled back down again now my period has actually started! :o

Good luck!
