Do FF babies cluster feed?

Was just having a think about this whilst reading a different thread. I can understand that there are growth spurts at different ages, so babies need to up their milk supply which BF babies do by cluster feeding.

As FF babies can instantly increase their milk supply, do they still cluster feed?

NB this is not a loaded question about BF v FF etc, just an idle Saturday morning musing whilst drinking a cup of tea.

In my experience, yes. Obviously it is impossible to overfill a stomach - much like a cup, you put too much in - it comes back out. So in those early few weeks (and even now at 15 weeks...) sometimes he wants a little bit hourly - other times he'll take a lot and then have a good sleep.

Conversely, it's my observation that FF are not fed simply to "shut them up" iyswim.

My DD did. Was a pain making up all those bottles!

Ha yes, good point! I have myself uttered the phrase "you can't cry with one of them in your gob!" However, if he isn't hungry he doesn't take any. I guess it must be the same with bottle feeding - just shoving a bottle of milk in does not mean the baby will drink it?

Adults are the same - sometimes you have little snacks, other times you want a large meal.

Yeah. DD 22weeks drank 7x7oz bottles yesterday, so def growth spurt. Pita making up bottles - wish I was still breast feeding, would make life so much easier. Didn't have enough milk when DD was 6 weeks old so had to stop Sad
