Nursing in a ring sling - please tell me how you swap sides or I will end up with very wonky bosoms

I've just started having goes at nursing 8 week dd in her ring sling and think it may be the best thing ever. I am slowly begining to dare hope I might be able to eat occasionly without being screamed at by a cluster feeding baby as I can have her on while scoffing my own dinner. Bliss!

My only thing is that I am having her in the tummy to tummy position with the sling over my right shoulder and I can drop her down to go on my left breast really easily but can't work out how to swap her over the the right breast when she has finished on the left. I have looked online but can't find anything about this. Is it possible to get her over to the right or would you have to take the whole sling off and put it over the other shoulder?

If anyone who feeds in slings could share some of their wisdom about this I would be forever greatful :o

I have no idea (sorry!) but would love to know the answer. What kind/make of sling do you have? I have a wrap but I'm thinking of buying a ring for this purpose and quick trips. DD is 7 weeks.

I think you need to take it off and swap sides until she has good head control.
Once she has good head control you should be able to have her upright in the middle of you breasts and then just a quick readjust to latch her one side or the other.

I think it's amazing you've mastered the ring sling feeding at 8 weeks! I didn't manage feeding in a sling until DS was about 7 months! Although that was in a mei tai

If you haven't already check out natural mamas someone on there might be able to give you better ring sling advice.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I have mastered it yet hazchem but I am practicing and determined. :o

Thanks for the link, I will have a look through the site. What you say about head control makes sense. I suppose I will just have to hang in there for the more advanced manouvers.

Zanzi I just picked up a basic ring sling off ebay from a reputable looking seller. It is really fab and my favourite sling (I have 3 and am turning into a bit of an addict) It is so easy to get on and pop dd in quickly even if she is in a wriggly mood.
