Hi

I am bf my 3 month old. She will not take a bottle or dummy. She just doesn't seem keen to feed, she only feeds from one side and has never finished a side ever. She feeds at most for five minutes. We have paid for LC to come to our house but nothing seems to help. She now only likes to feed while asleep or drowsy. She was born on ninety first and is now between fifty and seventy fifth percentile. She is happy in herself, she isn't keen to nap in day (only sleeps in my arms) but sleeps all night. I have a 3 year old who I BFd and he fed all the time and for longish periods. My hv said she looks fine but scared to get her weighed again (last time was three weeks ago) as don't want to put her on formula plus taking bottle is an issue. ANY SUGGESTIONS????

Could there be a physical reason for her finding it difficult. Has she been checked for tongue tie?

I'm no expert on these things I'm afraid, but hopefully someone can shed some light.

How are her nappies? Are they wet and dirty?

My DD has only ever taken one breast per feed! Don't worry about her finishing the breast as it's never empty! Maybe she has become more efficient at feeding!!

Hopefully someone will come along with more advice.

Thanks for the replies. She has been diagnosed as having a Posterior tongue tie but i have seen two ent surgeons, neither of whom thought snipping would help, one NHS an one private. She has lots of wet nappies but poos infrequently and is greeny yellow not mustard yellow I had with my other LO. Am trying her on four hourly feeds now to see if he is better when she is a little hungrier.
