nursing strike

My 9 month old DD has just started bfing again after a 6 day nursing strike. My supply has reduced slightly although i did express as much as possible.

i am hopeful that she will continue feeding ok.

I felt so pleased when she fed again this morning and it was very much "welcome back sweetheart".

Just wondering if anyone else has any experience of this.

Wow, well done both of you for making it through a 6 day strike :) 9 months seems to be such a common age for nursing strikes.

My two have never had strikes but I've heard that taking a bath together can really help.

An happy for you but just be aware that recovery's can be bumpy affairs so try not to get upset if she takes a few steps back.

Thanks for the replies.

I am keeping fingers crossed that things go smoothly from now on - she was a bit fussy tonight (Shes only on 2 feeds a day) and initially refused to bf, but gave her a small bottle of expressed milk and then bf and she was ok. I am really hoping we can continue.

i was really surprised that she had a nursing strike at all - she's always fed really well and we've never had any problems, but i suppose it doesnt always follow.

Hi there,
My 5.5 month old has just been on nursing strike for 12 days!! I almost gave up and was tearing my hair out. She's always been a really good feeder and just started to scream and scream every time my nipple came hear her - even if she was really hungry. I persisted and didn't try to make her feed when she didn't want to and she's slowly coming back. She's been almost back to normal for the last 2 days. Really stressful, but i think with patience you can get through it.
xx
