Mother's reaction to BF

My mum and dad saw DD when she was 6 days old and then they have been abroad until the weekend just gone.

My mum bottle fed all of us and when she found out that I am still EBF DD who is now almost six months old she said: Oh that's nice isn't it? Must be nice for her to be breastfed.

No point to this really. Just Grin.

That's really lovely.

I just wasn't expecting it as my mum has always been a bit shy of her own body as well.

Later on in the day we went out for lunch and I fed DD right next to my Dad who I also thought might be a bit mmm but it was all fine. :)

That's really great, it really makes a difference when family are supportive and it's nice that your mum doesn't feel it's a slight on her own parental choices that yours are different as I think sometimes people can.

Just to add, this wasn't just a generational thing I was a bit mmm about but a cultural one as well so am doubly Grin.

That's great showtunes. It's lovely when parents respect and support your choices. My mum always thinks I should do everything the same way she did.... I was breastfed for 6 months therefore she thinks I should stop now DD is 26 weeks and has always thought I'm mad not to 'give her 10 minutes each side every 4 hours'.

Enjoy having your parents around again.

my mum has definately changed her opinion over the time i have been bfing my DD - originally, as my sister and I were bottle fed, she was fairly anti-bfing, but she now realises its a good thing. When i decided to bf until DD's 1st birthday, she was in favour of it Grin - not what i was expecting not that i would take any notice what she says but its still nice. i must admit, i've never plucked up courage to bf in front of my parents though Hmm!
