hi there - I am breast feeding my 5 and half Week baby boy - he does have 1 bottle of aptamil before bed. O have noticed that 1 or 2 out of about 8 of his dirty nappies a day are greenish in colour the rest are yellow is this normal?

There are a whole range of normal poo for breastfed newborns:

Marmite/Yellow/wholegrain mustard/pesto

Marmite is meconium and passes after the first week, yellow and wholegrain are digested milk. The green is just what undigested milk comes out like - it's normal and nothing to worry about.

If he's happy otherwise and seems healthy enough, I wouldn't worry about it prekkygem.

Thanks all - no real pattern to time of day he does poos varies from day to day. Hes still doing loads and loads poos a day but that's normal isn't it? X

This has quite helpful visuals (not so great on the bfing advice but then it is from Abbott Hmm).

Lots of poo is normal, as is just a few poos, or even days/weeks without poo so long as it isn't hard when they do go.
