I'm poorly and breastfeeding

I've got a sickness bug I think & feel generally lethargic and achy. I think dd has had it for a couple of days too (she's been 'off' with high temp, teething badly and sickness, she got checked out by GP as all ok so I'd put down the sickness to teething but now I'm not so sure).

Am I ok to carry on breastfeeding? I have been doing, although she has gone off food and milk the last couple of days too. Does my milk protect her from getting the bug back again?

You poor thing! Yes, you are absolutely fine to carry on breastfeeding, although whether it protects dd from getting the bug I have no idea.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks - feel like death. I want it to go away now!

Yes it's got a positive side to this as well - you will be producing antibodies to the sickness bug and passing them to your LO in your milk, so hopefully she will fight the bug off quickly, as she'll already have the antibodies from you.

Just wanted to say I've been sick with the same thing over the last week, DD brought it home from nursery, boooo! I've been carrying on breastfeeding, she's actually been wanting more milk than usual as she's been off her food. I think the usual advice applies, just make sure you drink plenty of water and don't get too exhausted.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks bumblebee turned a corner in the night I think. Don't feel as fever'ish today, but still back and fro to the loo though Blush Sad
