My boy is 9 weeks old, but was preterm by 4 weeks. I am exclusively BF, and seem to have spent literally all day feeding yesterday and today...plus long feeds in the night, at 2, 4, 7ish

He's also been crying in the short breaks between feeding.....today he hasn't napped for longer than 20mins....

Normal? A phase?

There have been tears!

Sounds like a growth spurt, if the age is adjusted, it would fit the 4-6 week one (see kellymom). I would sit, feed, watch tv and eat cake if you can!

MrsLettuce · 07/05/2012 20:16

It's so very hard, but yes, it's utterly normal and A Good Thing. He's having a growth spurt so is feeding endlessly to boost your supply. Is it possible for you just to go to bed with him and wait it out?

MrsLettuce · 07/05/2012 20:16

Oh yes, cake is vital! How could I have forgotten? Wink

saltyair · 07/05/2012 20:20

I could just go to bed.better than fighting and ending up weeping I suppose. Why the yelling though?
How long is this likely to last?

Oh the yelling, it's all part of it. He just needs to be close and feed. Take a look at MrsJamin's link - kellymom is a very good site.

I feel for you, I remember it well and it's not easy. Snuggle up in bed and wait it out, I'm sure the extra rest wouldn't go amiss!

saltyair · 07/05/2012 20:27

Thank you...good to know it is normal..I was beginning to feel like I was doing a terrible job!

How was your night, saltyair?

saltyair · 08/05/2012 08:09

Thank you for asking! Little boy fell asleep at about 10.30, woke at 1.30 and 4, but only for a quick feed each time, then up at 6. He has now fallen asleep again (on me, can't seem to be put down at the mo, but that's another story!). He feels more chilled - weather is less tragic today so hopefully we'll be able to get out later!

Oh good - sounds like it was just a funny few days!

saltyair · 08/05/2012 22:35

Fingers crossed! Supply has definitely increased, I've had massive leaky boobs today!

These are the times that box sets of Greys Anatomy/Glee are made for.
