Painful nipples and leaking when pregnant

I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and for the past couple of weeks I have been leaking. Not very much at all but enough to notice it.

The past couple of days my nipples have been hurting too. I'd say 8 times out of 10 this is followed by leaking.

Is there anything I can do at the minute to stop this? I am planning to bf but I am finding it a little annoying at the minute.

Thanks.

Don't think there is anything you can do to stop it. Have you got some breastpads for the leaks?

I have pads but the leaks usually aren't enough to need them. It's the pain that's getting on my nerves more than the leaking.

It's not a sign of impending birth is it? I never leaked before with the 2 boys only after they were born.

No not an indication of anything some women leak while pregant others don't. What sort of pain? maybe worth meantionting the pain to your midwife.

It's hard to describe but it's a bit like someone is sticking a hot needle in the end of my nipple. Paracetamol doesn't help and I thought of trying lanisoh(sp) but I don't think it'll help.

It only seems to be one side at a time too. Last night it was the left side and now it's fine.

This could be way off the mark McKayz, but have a read about Raynaud's of the nipple halfway down this page.

Apparently it can occur in pregnancy.

Maybe see if things improve when you put some warmth on your nipple?

Just a thought. Smile

Thanks Crikey after reading that I do wonder if it could be that. The end of my nipple looked a little blue the other morning. But I had slept topless with a fan on in my room as I was boiling when I went to bed.

I'll try using something warm to try and help.
