Help caffeine overload!

Very tired today and stupid me have had two strong teas, a chocolate brownie and a diet coke. I'm now feeling very twitchy and due to feed ds2 (8 mnths) any minute! I've no expressed milk. Am I going to have a hyper active baby on my hands? Will my milk do him any harm.

I wouldn't worry, Ive read that over 750mg of caffeine a day could result in caffeine overload in a baby. There is about 50mg in a cup of tea and about the same in a regular diet coke according to the kellymom website. There wont be a huge amount in the brownie either. Also, it says that babies under 6 months are more likely to show a sensitivity and as your LO is 8 months I really wouldn't worry. I'm no expert however, I just know the kellymom website is considered a really good source of info on all things breastfeeding.

Thanks scrum - caffeine effects me a bit strangely sometimes (gives me the fear!) hoping ds2 is made of stronger stuff like his dad - confirmed nespresso junkie!

My DS is 8 months and I'm a lot more relaxed about caffeine now. Apparently it affects them much more when they're younger. Oh, the joy of being able to drink decent coffee again!

In any event it takes 8 hours for whatever you eat or drink to pass into breastmilk
