D&V - can I keep feeding?

Hey all

Ds 10mo is 3 days into a hideous vomiting bug. Now I have it too. (and I have a sick phobia, it's my worst nightmare.)

I have to do all I can to avoid vomiting again, so no food and just sips of water. Is this enough to keep me bfing? It's all ds is getting at the moment, despite the fact he's bringing it all back up!

I don't want my milk supply to suffer, I'm really loving this stage of breastfeeding and want it to continue.

Thanks x

Absolutely keep bf - it's great when babies have dodgey tummies as it settles them and you will be fine with just sips of water for a day or so.

I also find when I'm very very queasy that sucking one ice cubes is easier to do then sips of water.

I really feel for you as it's hard work feeding a little one when both of you are sick. Hope you've got some good help and big washing machine.

Oh boy, the washing. It's unbelievable. I feel so awful. And I'm so thirsty but scare to drink to much incase I throw up again! I know I must keep hydrated though. I'll try ice cubes, thanks for that tip!

Poor you, I had a nasty sick bug when DS was around 6mo (thankfully he didn't get it) and because I got so dehydrated my milk supply did drop temporarily, but it was ok and went back to normal quickly

Ugh no success - just threw up again. And ds is having some seriously explosive nappies waking him up screaming... It's going to be a long night!

Yes keep going. But try and take in fluids if poss. But if you are really bad and need a break then do. Your supply won't disappear over night. I finished bfing dd when she was 12 months just before Xmas. I am still leaking now!
