Conceiving while BFing, and supply....

OK firstly I'm not sure I am, but by Goodness I have the nausea every evening like before, and we did have unprotected sex about 4 weeks ago....

My periods haven't come back yet though so how likely is it? DD is 9.5 months...

Also, if I were, will my supply dip, and how will I tell? I really want to continue feeding DD :(

On supply, mine dropped off completely when I got to about 16 weeks, but was fine until that. A little tender though. DD1 then self weaned, but that was fine with me as she was going on two and I wasn't that keen on tandem feeding. Plus she was only having one feed a day at that point, so it wasn't a big change.

You'll know if your supply drops because your DD will let you know - fussing, increased feeding, or in DD1's case "empty. Nana?" (her word for banana at the time.

It varies for different people I think, but I breastfed dd right through my pregnancy with ds. As your dd gets older, especially over a year, she will need less milk, so even if your supply does drop it shouldn't be a problem.

Would you be happy if you were pregnant? Obviously you weren't planning it. But if it helps, I know a few people with age gaps between siblings of 18 months or less and they all think it's great!

Yes I would be happy, but would also be ... I'm near 40 so cant dally, but such a close age gapwould be hell I think - DD does not sleepnn.... and is trying to type over me now!

One of my friends got pregnant when her first daughter was 9 months and before her periods returned.

She loves it. Has since had DC3!

DD was 7 months when I got pregnant again-blimey it's mad to see that written down! She was ebf until 6 months. It was planned but didn't think it'd happen the first time! I think periods returned at about 4 months.

Anyway, I continued to bf DD1 until she was 14 months-so there was no problem with supply and she actually self weaned (when I was thinking it was about time we ended so I could have a break before DD2!).
