Newborn and wind

My DS is 15 days old, and is now ebf (after a brief few days stretch when I was told to top up with formula due to his weight loss). He feeds well but recently has started having a lot of wind. He farts pretty often throughout the day, and when I put him down in his cot squirms about quite a lot and looks uncomfortable. Is this normal, or should I be looking at what I eat and possibly eliminating food? I am vegetarian and have always eaten a lot of dairy and pulses, not very keen to eliminate either unless I have to as that would leave me with a limited diet.

DeeBee - there are many myths about wind. At 15 days old, babies who squirm are usually doing no more than just squirming - if he was really uncomfortable he would cry.He may screw up his face and look tortured, but he is probably 100 per cent fine.

Farting is normal.

No need to eliminate anything from your diet on what you say here :)

Thanks tiktok - that is a relief, he is my first baby and I was really surprised with all the wind, somehow never thought babis get so farty :)

My baby is 16 days and does exactly the same squirming and face-screwing! She also makes a lot of grunting noises and I thought it was a wind problem too. From what I've read on here it seems to be quite normal, thankfully! It still has me on edge though!
