hi all

Currently 21 weeks pregnant and have just been told I should be wearing maternity bras!! I had no idea, after talking with a friend she said they aren't very supportive. Currently in a 34F and still growing :-( also she said it could cause mastitis?? Not sure of spelling but what is that? Will maternity bras be supportive enough for the size I am? Should I be in maternity bra's and what damage/ potential problems am I setting myself up for by not wearing them so far? Midwife hasn't said anything about them so didn't realise. Any advice would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance x

A friend told me a similar thing when I was about 20 weeks with DD. I did a bit of googling and it seems that as long as you bra isn't too tight, ie it doesn't leave red marks, it's OK. I would put of wearing nursing bras for as long as possible TBH.

I HATED the maternity/feeding bras I wore for my first baby, so didn't bother second time around. I couldn't cope with spending another 2 years of my life with boobs round my ankles frankly. I am wedded to underwire and I just found mat/feeding bras to be so so so unsupportive.

I also spoke to a very nice very helpful lady in a very posh lingerie shop who said that underwire is fine as long as your bras fit you properly. Badly fitting underwire could cause mastitis so it's worth being careful.

So I wore normal well fitted bras during pregnancy and Anita underwired feeding bras which were a revelation!

My advice is to get yourself measured! Grin
