Has anyone else noticed that there is a difference in volume between oz and ml, when making bottles?

DD is bottle fed and was a little constipated, I made her bottles up in uk fl oz.
I noticed that if i made her bottles up using ml I would be using more water

I am using avent bottles and 7oz is equivilent to just less than 200ml on the bottles. I started making up with ml instructions - one scoop to 30 ml and found I was using 210ml of water to 7 scoops.
This adds up to about 60ml extra water over a day and has seemed to helped DDs constipation.

However, I am wondering which way is the best way as I was always told how important it was to make the bottles up using the correct quantities of water to powder.

but isn't it 1 scoup to 1oz?

Or have I missed your point Blush

It can be either 1 scoop to 1oz of water or one scoop to 30ml of water.

If you use the ml method you end up with a bit more water in the bottles

The instuctions on the box give measurements for both oz and ml, so 1 scoop to 1 oz or one scoop to 30ml of water but 30ml must be slightly more than one fluid oz.

yes i noticed this and do it the same as you to the ml instead of hte oz, also i have a bottle that has american oz on as well and they are different to english ounces!! madness!

you are quite right, the difference is noticeable when you make a full bottle.
the instructions on the tin (each brand IIRC) state clearly to work in ml.

For Aptamil, you need to use ml not oz. A UK fl oz is 28ml not 30ml. I think US fl oz is 30ml.

I use Aptamil but didn't realise it should be made using ml not oz as it has instructions for both.

I have found that she has no problems passing stools now I make the bottles to ml

Avent bottles have US and UK fluid oz as well as ml graduations.
