How does miscarriage affect supply?

I am feeding my 2yo dd, and was 12 weeks pg when I mc last weekend. My supply had dropped while pg, but will it pick up again or is this it? I do still have some milk, but not a massive amount and poor dd is finding it all very difficult (I am finding it all difficult too but at least I understand what is going on)

I don't know the answer but hope someone will be along to help. Sorry to hear of your MC, must be difficult especially with confused DD. :(

Jodidi - I am so sorry for you and your family.

It may be that your supply recovers but as you were under 16w the hormones that would have triggered the restart of lactation for the next baby wouldn't have fully been trigger.

If you can you may find speaking (or emailing - most of the bfing helplines have email addresses - if you are finding talking difficult at the moment) to a breastfeeding counsellor helps work through what may happen and how you feel about it.

I wish you all the best.

Your supply will usually pick up again within a week to two especially if your child continues feeding.

It can be a bit unpredictable.

Sorry for your loss.
