Arrr ds2 is refusing the breast (unless we are both stripped of in a quiet room) but will be crying with hunger so close to giving in and giving him a bottle. Just venting

Could it be teething? DS went through a phase like that + Calpol plus Bonjela just before feeding really helped. Good luck, it is tough when they are hungry and won't feed.

Poor, poor you. How are you getting on now? Have you read the stuff on Kellymom about nursing strikes?

How is he today need? Are things improving? Did the kellymom stuff help?

needthistowork · 13/04/2012 14:49

He will still only feed lying in bed, which is better than a full on strike.

Kellymom stuff was useful, it encouraged me to relax about it and to not to try to force him to the breast and to ignore the comment "he will feed if he is hungry" it also was nice to hear it would be ok to give him a bottle as the breast feeding HV i saw on tues wonted me to not give a bottle but to try a cup (which i did which didnt go well) and gave the impression that a bottle would be the end of breast feeding were kellymom says it would be ok (as he doesnt have nipple confussion although i will be corsius(sp) that that doesnt happen. But that will mean i can go for a swim tonight to get a brake and DH can feed DS.

Going to persevere with skin to skin when possible, Ds1 is in nursery this afternoon so can close the curtains and have some peacefull skin to skin when Ds2 wakes up. Feed him lying down and not preasure him to feed with me sitting and hope we both relax back in to it

Hi - sounds like you are doing all the right things - hope it works out soon. Its stressful for both of you. Hope you had a good swim.

Glad it helped. Hope you enjoyed your swim and your afternoon feeding session.

Is DH around this weekend? Would he be able to take DS1 out and let you have a bit of a babymoon?
