Hello there,

I have a lovely 14 month old boy who is still completely obsessed with brestfeeding. In fact his first word was 'boo-boo'! I have managed to cut down to 3 feeds a day: first thing, before lunch time slep and at bed time. I really want to cut out the lunch time one but he is not having any of it!

Have you ladies got any tips for cutting down. I offer milk instead (soya) but he doesnt even try it. I am going back to work so I really need help!

RexandBen - if you want to cut out the lunchtime feed you will just need to 'shut up shop'. You do not need to replace the feed with milk. Will he take water or juice? Is he unable to tolerate ordinary cow's milk? Try distracting him with toys when he is looking for the breast. You will be amazed at how quickly he will accept not having a feed if you persevere for a few days. Have you tried leaving him with someone else at lunchtime for a few consecutive days? If you are not available, he cannot have a breastfeed. Be determined not to give in. Good luck.
