Nursing in pregnancy, milk gone, still nursing, can I make it less sore?

I'm 24 weeks now and my milk seemed to disappear about 18 weeks. DS is 20 months old and a very keen boob monster. Not at all bothered that there is nothing there, still nursing at least twice a day.
I don't want to stop, he is very insistent, clearly getting something out of it, and I am happy to continue to tandem nurse.
His latch is a bit sloppy, and sometimes a bit toothy, I try and encourage him to latch well though. I am still really sore though, like brushing past my nipple through clothes hurts, and I wince whenever he latches on.
Is there anything I can do to make this more comfortable until my milk comes back?
