how often does your child breastfeed?

My 13 month old still breastfeeds about every 2-3 hours during the day and evry 3-4 hours at night. Does anyone elses child still feed as much at this age?

Yep that sounds like my 13 month old.

yep mine did that at that age. She is 19 months now and BF a couple of times during the day and about 3 times between 7am-7pm.

Until last week my 12 month old fed every 2-3 hours all day (maybe 6 feeds in total each day) but then went 11 hours overnight. Fool that I am, I decided to cut back on the day time feeds (older DC was down to morning and night by this age). After a lot of effort on my part he now feeds morning and night - and then a couple of times through the night... Clearly he does need a good few feeds in any 24 hour period and is going to get them whatever way he can! Am now trying to reinstate the daytime feeds.

Yep sounds normal to me especially if they are teething etc my DD always fed more/comfort sucked at that time. Her feeding really cut down when she hit 2, all her teeth were through, the afternoon nap became quite elusive so those feeds went out the window and she was eating a good amount of solids she is 30months now, recently started sleeping in her own bed and now only feeds for about 10/15mins in the morning.

Mine is 7.5 months and he feeds 5-8 times a day, but nothing overnight (last week aside, when his second tooth came through and he wanted boob every hour, day and night).

Thanks everyone, thats good to know. None of my other children fed anywhere near as much by this age.

DS did at that age, except it was more like 2 hourly through the night too.

He was still feeding 6-8 times a day at 2.0 years, although less often at night. He's losing interest a bit now at 2.3 as I'm pg and my milk supply is dropping, but still has at least 4 day feeds and a couple of night ones.

Sounds like DS at that age - I found that it quickly tailed off between 14 and 16 months.
