DD BFs on demand. On nursery days (3 days per week) she will feed in the morning, after nursery and before bed. On the other 4 days she will roughly every 3 hours assuming we are together and not doing anything exciting. If she is grumpy or tired she will feed a lot more. In the mornings she can have 3-4 feeds before 9am as she likes to loll about in bed with us. When she feeds she is rarely still but will stand up/walk about over my lap, wriggle etc.

She has a night feed about 50% of nights - to settle her rather than because she is hungry. The other nights she sleeps through.

So how do we compare? Also....for those with similar age DC and feeding pattern when did your periods return? I'm still waiting and would quite like them to reappear soon! Maybe I should cut her feeds?

Well it's been a while since my eldest was 19 mo but I didn't want your thread to go unanswered.

She sounds pretty normal to me. My DD1 still isn't wasn't sleeping through without a BF at that age. My periods returned really early with DD1 so can't help on that score. If your DD is sleeping through some nights then I wouldn't have thought it would be too long. It varies a lot though.

Wow, sounds like you're doing a brilliant job.
I didn't breastfeed for long, but now ds 21mo drinks about 5+ beakers (8-10oz) a day if that is helpful in any way? (mix cows milk and juice)

DS2 is coming up to 1, he goes to nursery 3 days a week and is very similar to what you describe. It's normal AFAIK.

Dd3 is 17 months & similar though sleeps less.

DS2 is 19 months too and sounds exactly the same as your DD. He probably sleeps through a bit more (sorry!) but that's because we sleep trained him before I went back to work.
Still not consistent though (he was up 3 times last night because he's growing teeth!).
If he's bored/grumpy/has a cold, he feeds a lot more, but not for long. I had the implant put in when he was 3 months, so can't help on the period front.

By 19 months my DS was only feeding before bed, and occasionally in the morning before breakfast. I stopped at 23 months by my choice, though, so i'd been doing never offer, never refuse from about 18 months tbh. Despite feeding on demand i had had a period by the time he was 2 months old.

He started to sleep through from 6 months so i'm afraid i tended to offer water if he woke in the night after about 12 months, but that was when i'd gone back to work, ds was in nursery 4 days a week and we all needed our sleep!

When it comes to bf i really do think that if it's working for both of you, then it's right, no matter what others are doing.
