Seven-month-old--when do they typically start dropping feeds?

My DS feeds between 5-8 times per day, all during the day. Do some babies continue feeding so frequently, even at this age, and even after the introduction of solids (which I know isn't of particular importance until he turns one)?

To add, he only has one solid meal per day (he self-feeds himself two tablespoons of lumpy veg or fruit from a spoon, plus a few tiny bits of sliced avocado or banana). I know this should probably go in the weaning section, but when on earth do I add breakfast?

DS is 6.5mo and breastfeeds more frequently than that, and eats more solids - he's maybe just a piggy!

He has breakfast (something like weetabix, yogurt & fruit) an hour after 1st BF of the day. Breakfast is his fave - always eats more than at lunch which is about 4 hours after. I haven't worked an evening meal in there yet as he's not ready to eat late yet and the occasions I've tried he gets upset.

He used to do a mini cluster feed in the morning & this has stopped since introducing breakfast - makes for a much easier morning where I can actually shower!

I think they're all different. I was amazed to read another thread that a 7mo was having 4 BFs a day. I can't imagine DS getting to that point in a couple of weeks!

My dd has just turned 7 months and feeds at least as frequently as your ds. A typical day goes like this

7 am breakfast - usually readybrek with fruit
8am bf
10.30 bf
12.30 lunch - finger foods, rice cakes, veg sticks etc. she doesnt eat much of this
2pm bf
4pm bf ( sometimes she drops this one)
5.30 dinner - mashed up version of what we are having, pasta, shepherds pie etc
7pm bf

Thoughout the night she has at least 3 bf sometimes 4 or 5 Blush so she's having between 8 and 11 bf a day and 3 meals. She's not really showing any signs of dropping any feeds apart from the 4pm one. I'm keeping it going though as I thought it might mean she feeds less at night- unlikely Wink

DD 19 months still has 5 BFs most days......drop feeds you say? :-)

In all seriousness she didn't really drop any feeds until about 9 months..
