I drank way too much wine last night till quite late in the morning. I am really stupid and very guilty.

I have used up the frozen breast milk I had stored and already feel absolutely horribly guilty for already giving my little one two bottles of formula...

how long do I have to wait to be sure my breast milk is no longer 'toxic'?
so far I have been pumping and dumping. when can we get back to normal?

please tell me that a few bottles of formula haven't ruined her breast only gut!

No need to pump and dump, unless you are doing it to keep up supply.

Alcohol will leave your milk at the same rate as it leaves your blood, so say 1 unit per hour.

I would happily feed even after 3 units I reckon (never had the opportunity to try!) Even at that rate, there will barely be any in your milk.

i was only pumping to get rid of the pain of bursting breasts!

1 unit per hour. thats helpful.

If it was last night and you are sober enough to post on here, I think you are fine.

Here's what Kellymom has to say:

"In general, if you are sober enough to drive, you are sober enough to breastfeed. Less than 2% of the alcohol consumed by the mother reaches her blood and milk. Alcohol peaks in mom?s blood and milk approximately 1/2-1 hour after drinking (but there is considerable variation from person to person, depending upon how much food was eaten in the same time period, mom?s body weight and percentage of body fat, etc.). Alcohol does not accumulate in breastmilk, but leaves the milk as it leaves the blood; so when your blood alcohol levels are back down, so are your milk alcohol levels."
