8 Month old biting when feeding. Help!

DD is nearly 8 months and now has her two top and bottom teeth and has started biting when she first latches and sometimes during feeds.

Has anyone had any experience of this?

She bit me once before when she was a lot younger (and only had bottom teeth) and after I yelped she went on feeding strike for 24 hours!! She is EBF so I'm worried about saying anything in case it stops her feeding again.

Any advice would be greatly received!

Ouch! You have my sympathy, my DD also did this and it was horrid.

This is just one idea which worked for me - though appreciate you don't want to do anything that might put her off BF altogether.

Basically I watched her really carefully while she was feeding and as soon as I could see she was going to bite, I pushed her face (quickly but very gently) into my boob so she had to let go to breathe. The second she let go, I released the pressure.

Obviously she found this really frustrating and we had a couple more feeds with lots of on-off-on-off latching and howls of protest. But after that she never did it again!

Hi

Thanks for your suggestion! It's so painful it's making me feel anxious about every feed!

I'll give your idea a go but I can't really tell when she's going to bite and most the time it's just as she latches on and off. I'm not sure if I should stop the feed to make her realize she shouldn't do it.

Eeek
