Should I mention that I was a member of La Leche League on Health Visitor training application?

I managed to breastfeed my first child 'till he was 18 months and second child 'till he was 12 months. I had some fantastic information and support from La Leche League and attended their groups both ante and post natal.

Spoke to the teacher-practitioner at my local university where the post-graduate course is run and she said, "Oh I wouldn't mention that on your application. The La Leche League are a bit too extreme and left-wing."

Confused

Also put down that you were brave and said on mumsnet that you are applying to be an HV, duck now before the abuse starts !!!!

We were talking about my two, two year career breaks. She said that I should try to focus on any managerial skills and other transferable skills that I gained whilst being a stay-at-home-mum. I hosted coffee mornings and helped with events management, but was never a leader.

In HR spin I would put it and it gave you valuable skills in connecting with groups and mothers.

Cheers cowboylover. Just the language I was looking for.

jaffacake2, read your posts on this thread

I have a thick skin. I've had plenty of abuse hurled at me as a psychiatric nurse..

Hi hope all goes well for you. Ignore my cynical attitude,it really is an interesting job which you will get alot of satisfaction from. Coming from your background as a psychiatric nurse you will sail through abuse with humour intact.
Take care Smile
