For the past week now my 4mo DD screams everytime I offer the right breast!! The moment I offer the left she takes it!! I'm looking a little lopsided and getting engorged too! Any ideas why this is happening and ideas what to do about it???

DS1 went through this for a while, and it got worse because the engorgement made it more difficult for him to latch too. I found it was easier to feed him lying down or in the rugby ball hold when he was being difficult - maybe the angle made a difference to him, or "tricked" him into believing it was the other breast.

My son did this after birth and after 3 days they realused his collar bone was broken.

Not saying it's anything so bad for you guys but don't just focus on the boob, check her out too just in case.

I fed from the right side only for over a year. Was terribly lopsided but gleefully anticipating an nhs funded boob job to sort it out. To my deep disappointment, once I stopped bfing they became exactly the same size again.

Both dd and ds have had a significant preference for my left boob. I was lopsided, especially with ds, but it went back to normal after stopping bf dd and is much less noticeable with ds now (2.3) than before even though I'm still feeding him.

Not quite as extreme as a broken collarbone (eek!) but DS did this when he had an ear infection on one side, so worth getting that checked too.

Not trying to scare you but I read an article where several women had babies that would only feed from one breast. It was found that these women had v early stage breast cancer, somehow the babies had picked up that something 'wasn't right'.

Omg some scary responses! I'll see how she goes! I did manage to get her to feed from R boob eventually! Hopefully it's a phase shes going through!

Nappymaestro, DD had her 16wk jabs Monday just gone! Maybe that's the problem!! She's been incredibly off colour since then! Not her usual self!! Have to say I'm quite proud of myself that I'm still bf! Believe you me, there's been many occasions where I've been so stressed by it all and wanted to pack it in, but glad I haven't! Happy mothers day to everyone x
