DS only feeding from one side

Hi all

My 3.5 month old son will only feed from my left side. If I even get him in position for the right, he starts wailing. I have managed to get him to feed briefly from the right side when very sleepy.

He has a cold and a tiny bit of oral thrush which might be why - perhaps he is more comfortable on the left or find it easier to extract milk.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had experienced this or had any advice?

Thanks!

I've just posted something similar for my 4wk old so I'll watch with interest!

When I was trying to bf in the early days my DD would only feed lying on one side so had her in a rugby ball position on the left and lying across me on the right.

Could try that until your LO calms down and feels a bit better? Good luck.

I've tried different holds KatOD :-( and I've tried expressing off milk so the breast is not so full, in case flow was the problem. Nothing works except tricking him when he's sleepy and even that only works for a minute or so. I've not had this problem before - it's just started in the last couple of days.

I suspect the cold and/or thrush is the problem, but the poor man is a bit hungry, I think, as the other side hasn't unregulated yet. AND he won't take a bottle.

Sigh.
