Feeing issue or sleeping issue? (or both?!)

My DD is 3 months. Until now she has been a brilliant sleeper, in that after a lot of cluster BF-ing in the evening she would settle any time between 8 and 9pm and generally go through till at least 4am, often later. She'd then take a feed and immediately settle again. Heaven, after a nightmare with my DS who was not a sleeper at all. But in the last week she's changed. She now wakes at about 1/2am, feeds and then wants to feed at least once more before 6am, when by DS gets up. It's far from the end of the world, I know, but having had it so good I miss it! I tried a dream feed at 11ish for 3 ngihts but it made no difference at all. Does any one have any experience of this, and any potential remedies? I don't know if she's suddenly become very hungry, and I am not satisfying her as I used to, or if her sleeping pattern has just shifted. Hmmmmmm....

Blimey that certainly is some good sleeping for a 3 month old !! I can understand why you feel this is a backwards step.

But ... more than likely she's going through a growth spurt and really needs the extra feeds. Night-time feeds are really important at this age - babies make more growth hormone at night, and night feeds help to keep your milk supply going.

I think that if you can bear to go with the flow for a few more nights, she will probably go back to something like her old pattern soon enough. I would be pretty cautious about treating this as a problem which needs to be fixed - after all, her need to grow isn't at issue !

It is normal 3month old baby behavour, sounds like a groth spurt she needs more milk and in order for you to produce more milk she needs to feed more often espicaly at night.

They don't stay the same for long at this age so just go with it, nothing wrong with her or you.

Thanks folks. For no good reason I had it in my head that growth spurts lasted a couple of days so when this hit the 5th or 6th night I started to wander if it could be anything else. I will persevere!
