Can anyone help me with my superboob?....so i havent been swapping sides as much as i should and my 3mo ds seems to prefer the left side and so do i as it is alot more comfortable etc.Only now this one seems to be producing alot more than the other.
Not sure how i correct this as i have tried to feed more from the right to balance it back out but is just making the left engorged and you can really see a difference in size :0 .If i express that will make more wont it? and im worried about mastitis by ignoring it.Pretty clueless to be honest.help please :)

The more you feed from it, the more that side will produce. So maybe try always starting on the other side, or doing 2 feeds from that to each one from the preferred side. Yes it would be engorged for a bit and might look bigger, but should level out. Any feelings of tenderness, massage gently. If you need to express a bit out, use your hand and just for a few seconds, don't get to letdown. This would just be my approach though, am not a bfc or anything.

You have my sympathy, DS1 had a favourite which had the faster letdown (lazy :)). He got stroppy when I put him on the other one, I had to be firm about it!

The other reason to try to balance out which side you feed from is it can affect the eye development as a lot of that is done while feeding as they gaze etc and always being on one side can make affect the balance of the eye muscles.

Maybe try to supplement bf with expressing on that side to get production up on the less used side but persevere and persevere with getting your ds to accept either side - it is just what he is used to and he can get used to using the other side too - but perseverance is the only answer really - sorry. :)
