Rash after first formula feed?

I have been Ebf since birth and gave my dd her first bottle of formula this morning. I noticed when I was getting her ready for bed a red rash on her chin and body. Does anyone have experience of this and is it a normal reaction just to the change or does it mean she may have an allergy?

Hi there. My kids are big now (13, 11 and 7!) but we had a similar thing when our ds was small, when we changed from one brand of formula to another (rather than from breastfeeding to formula). After just one bottle he came out in a red rash all over. I immediately stopped feeding that formula and went back to his usual brand, and the rash went away.
Obviously it could be coincidence but I'd be tempted to play safe and assume it is the formula causing it. Doesn't necessarily mean dd wouldn't tolerate any type of formula though.
Sorry, I realise this isn't that much help! Good luck...

PS maybe you could have a break, wait for rash to disappear, and try again in a week or so? Then if the rash reappears you'll be certain it is the formula causing it?

Could it be heat rash? My DS gets heat rash quite a lot. He does get it mostly on his face neck and chest..

My lo got spots for a day when we changed from one brand to another and again when we changed from first milk to the hungry milk. It's probably just the body adjusting, I wouldn't worry about it unless it stays for a few days or gets worse.

Apparently something like 1% of breastfed babies are intolerant to cow's milk - doesn't necessarily mean a full-scale allergy, but is an immune system reaction. Rash is a common symptom so yes, could be the formula.

I think Honeybun's suggestion is a good one..
