Cutting down breastfeeds....now mastitis :(

Hi Everyone,

I was doing so well cutting down my feeds in preparation for return to work. Had a whole 4 week schedule planned out. The last week we have cut out the mid-morning feed and given a bottle instead and it has been working great. Until I woke up yesterday morning in pain and feverish...the dreaded mastitis. Thought I'd escaped all this after 1 week of nothing, but obviously not.

I was due to cut the mid-afternoon feed today, but obviously I'll be holding off on that for a few days.

The question is what I should do today....I assume still give the bottle at 10:30am and not me and just try to feed like normal making sure to massage and clear that duct plenty?

Any advice gladly received.

Thanks

Unfortunately you will probably need to drop the bottle today as it's more important to get the mastitis knocked on the head. Unless you are able to spend quite a bit time pumping and massaging but even then baby is better than a pump at getting milk out.

Lots of info on Mastitis here

Hope you get it resolved soon.
