Worried DD is not taking enought formula

My DD is 9 weeks old and according to the recommended amounts, both by government and on the side of the box, my DD isn't eating enough. She hasn't been weighed since I was discharged by the midwife over 6 weeks ago. She isn't due to be weighed until the 14th of this month so I don't know if she is gaining enough weight.

She has between 4 and 5 ounces per feed and has 5 feeds a day (ish)

She is contented and is sleeping well. I can't make her take more than she is already. I think I'm stressing over nothing and just need a bit of reassurance, but any advice will be helpful Thanks x.

If she's finishing the bottle then you could try an extra ounce? There should be a baby clinic at your GP's surgery so you can take her, get her weighed and have a chat with the HV whilst your there. You don't need to wait for her 12 week check. Smile

I generally prepare a 5oz bottle. she rarely finishes that. I did try making 6oz up for a while but it was just wasting milk. I've never been given info on drop in clinics, just given my appointments. Might ring the docs tomorrow and see what info they can give me. Thanks

If you ring you Hv they should be able to tell you when the clinics are. But I imagine that the volume recomendations are for a average baby, I'm sure if she's taking a little less but still growing then she's probably fine.

the NHS birth 2 five info says 'However, by the end of their first week, most will need approximately 150 to 200ml per kg of the baby?s weight per day until they are six months old. This amount will vary from baby to baby.'
