I'm pretty sure it's to do with his teething, he's clamped down the odd time before but over the last week has bitten lots, and today especially he has bitten loads at every feed Sad

Any tips on what can be done? I'm yelping when he does it (can't help it!) and following with a stern "no" and serious face, have also tried a bit of bonjela just before feeding, but it seems no deterrent. Is it just time to stop bfing? Sad I don't really want to stop yet, was planning on kind of letting him decide when it was time to stop, but I'm not sure how much longer I can take the chomping!

Some good tips here:

Should add this isn't his first bout of teething, he's got four teeth so far, first one came through at about 7 months, but he's never bitten like this before.

Madre can totally sympathise as my DS was like this at 7 months and I too thought it was the end of bfing.

When it was happening to me I rang the NCT helpline 0300 330 0771 (7 days a week, 8am-10pm) and with the help of a lovely Breastfeeding Counsellor it was sorted in no time and I went on to feed him till he was 2.8. So my advice would be, give him ibruprofen, read this on Kellymom and give one of the helplines a call Smile
