Worried I am not BF enough?

My DD is 10 mths old, she was EBF until 6 mths when I started introducing solids. She has a very healthy appetite for food so as I am TTC I have reduced BF to just first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Do you think she is getting enough breast milk or should I increase it again? She seems fine on it but I am worried that she may not be getting all the nutrients she should be (although she is eating fresh foods only, not shop bought stuff). Am I able to completely wean her onto cow's milk at 12 months, is this ok?

Sorry if these are really silly questions, but I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing for my little girl Smile

My DD dropped down to X2 BF per day at about 11mo, so I don't think what you've described is that unusual.

There seems to be a huge variation in the amount of milk feeds that they take around 10-12mo and beyond. I think if you follow your baby you won't go far wrong

You can introduce cows milk as a drink at age 1 if you choose to. However, DD won't touch the stuff and 2 HV have told me that it's not essential so long as she is eating yoghurt and cheese

ng have you read the Kellymom information on breastfeeding and fertility? Sorry, can't do the link at the moment.

As for 2 bfs a day I would ask a Bfing Counsellor if that was ok at 10 months. As far as I know, the milk is the most important thing until 1 year and if you were ff your baby should be having 20 oz a day. Two feeds may be enough, but like I say, I would talk this through with a BFC. Have you got the helpline numbers?

As for the cow's milk, it is fine to wean onto cow's milk from 12 months if that is what you want to do.
