FF-er: upping feeds

Hi, DD is FF, 12lbs, 10 weeks old, and currently has 6 feeds a day (6.30am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 6.30pm, 11pm).

She has 6 ounces at most of these feeds, maybe one feed she'll only have 5. If I was to up, and she takes, all her feeds to 7oz that's an extra 6oz a day, which is rather a large jump. Do you think I could drop the number of feeds down one, thus equalling out the amount she is taking? I am scared of taking the jump though, because at the moment she's sleeping 11.30pm - 6.30am, and I don't want to ruin that part of her routine.

Any FFers out there, how did you know when was right to stop the late/dream feed?

We dropped from 6 feeds to 5 feeds at 6 weeks. We did this by spacing out the feeds more during the day so feeding every 4 hours between 7am and 11pm.

We have then started moving the last feed earlier by 15 mins each week, so we're now on 10.30pm. Once it gets moved back to 10pm I plan to start decreasing that feed gradually and then drop completely.

I know all baby's are different, but 7oz in a 10 week old seems rather a lot to me! Remember their tummys are only small, so it's more 'little and often' rather than big feeds and more spacing out. My dd (22 wks, 14lbs) has just went up to 7oz feeds.

Oh and we are just onto 2nd week of weaning (purée). Up until we started she was having 7oz at 9am, 11.30am, 2.30pm, 5.30pm then last bottle 8pm. She had a few week previous where I gave her 6oz around 11.30pm as I think it was growing time and was waking at 5am. It lasted a wk then she was back to sleeping through Smile

My DS was on 7oz from about 7 weeks old. But by then he was only having 5 feeds a day because he was sleeping through. If he wanted 6 feeds we wouldn't stop him though. They wouldn't take it if they weren't hungry. My DS had 6 feeds the other day. (as a loud car backfired and woke him up at 5am). He's on 8oz now too.

Well, last night, it got to 11pm, and I thought i'd just leave her to wake. If she woke during the night, i'd feed her and then go back to dreamfeeds tonight onwards, but as it is she slept til 6am! Whoop!
