nanny goat milk formula

just switched to this to see if dd's excema is related to cows milk protein...anyone using this or switched to this formula...very expensive wondering if its worth it???

I used this (and soya) with ds1 and dd as was told to keep them off cows milk based stuff until 1 yr at least. Just started using it again now with ds2. It is horribly ££ (although I could get that nutramigen stuff on prescription but I can't be bothered) but so far ds1 and dd are free from excema which I am pleased about, Don't know if it the dairy avoidance that has helped or what really, but they still drink goats milk mostly and one thing I do notice is that when they have cow's we have more runny bottoms and strange poos than with the goats.

One real drawback with goats formula is that it makes the posset smell eeeeeuw!

I had heard the drawback with this stuff is that altbough the goats' milk protein is different to the cows' milk one - it's still alien. So if DD is alergic to stuff generally there is a risk she will develop an allergy to the goats' milk eventually. My experience is only with soya formula, sorry - all this stuff seems to be heinously expensive though.

Yes, it's not ideal. The only perfect thing is to bf for as long as poss, which I am trying to do but need some formula for top ups. Certainly the immunologist who saw ds1 said the goats would be a better option for us (I was massively allergic to cows milk as a baby, in hosp v ill, then excema, then asthma, etc etc, hence the cows milk ban for my kids) and he was happy for us to use soya too, which can produce allergy probs of its own. I think forevermnore, it's certainly worth a try and see if you dd improves. Hope her excema is not too distressing.

My two (and me) react to goats milk as well as cows milk. DS3 is on Enfamil Lactofree which we do get free on prescription, he's done really well on that and unlike Nutramigen which I am told reeks, I find it quite palatable myself. DS1 had soya formula, that rotted his teeth out as it was high sugar and he has bad decay, and has had teeth removed. He's only 6. .

ok when i was a little girl cows milk made my eczma really bad and unbearable where as goats milk made it much better... ( i didnt have it as nad as some children tho)

i was only ever breast fed, never formular tho...

another friend of ours had really really bad eczma and he found that goats milk made it infinitely better than it was as well

DEFINITELY worth a good try IMO!
