Help - my nipples are SO sore!

Hello

I have been breastfeeding my DD for nearly 10 months now and so far have been very lucky as we've not had many problems. She is now the proud owner of 5 teeth (2 top, 3 bottom) and over the last couple of day, she has started to really hurt when feeding. Both my nipples are cracked and sore, and slapping on the Lansinoh isn't helping much. I have tried repositioning her to avoid the sore bits but it isn't really helping either.

Anyone got any suggestions? She is crying now and so I am bracing myself for a feed! Owwwwwwww!

TIA x

Is she nipping you or are the teeth just getting in the way? I thought the thoery was that, if correctly latched on, the tongue covers the lower teeth. Have you got lazy with latching on? I know I did by this stage!!

I think the teeth are just getting in the way. She had a biting spell a couple of months ago but we sorted that by putting her on the floor when she bit!

It does seem to be the top teeth judging by the dents in my nipple afterwards and the position of the cuts. Her latch has always been fine so I was extremely lazy about it. Being careful the last couple of days hasn't really helped though.

I get teeth marks from every feed now (ds 22 m), but they don't hurt any more. I think it just takes a little while for you to harden up against them. Maybe my latch is wrong as well, but it's just the top teeth that leave marks.
