7 month old - what do they need?

Hello! I was hoping for some advice - I have a 5 m/o DS at present, but will be going back to work when he is 7 months. I have no idea what his needs will be at that point so unsure what to plan for so was hoping some of you could let me know what your dcs were doing at 7 months to give me an idea.

At present, I only breast feed, and apart from the odd time I've given him water, he hasn't had anything else. DH gives his expressed milk about once a week, sometimes with limited success. I plan to start solids in the next month, but wanted to know - should I start him on formula as well, or can that wait? At 7 months, if he has a solids meal a day, how many bottles would he need, as if it is only one extra a day I may be able to express. My work would be regular 9 - 5, and full time.

Thanks for your help - am totally clueless!

My DD was BLW so much slower on solids then puree babies. She loves her food though so we got to three meals in a week within starting weaning at 6mo. I also went back to work at 7mo. She was on two bottles during the day at the start. She will only take 70ml or less in a bottle. After finding out a tin of formula need to be chucked out every 4 weeks, I decided to stay with cartons in nursery as its actually similar in price. And cartons taste nicer. Many ebf babies will drink premade but not the powered stuff.

She will only suck the NUK latex teats. Will chew on the TT and breastflow ones.

If it helps you settle your mind, get your DH to try a bottle while you go out for a morning.

Btw the teat reference is because you mentioned only limited success with ebf. Not sure what bottles you have tried. I gone through avent, tt, breastflow before I got to NUK which my DD is ok with. From this board, it seems NUK and breastflow are the ones most ebf babies have success with.

THanks - have been using Avent, and good advice re the cartons!
