BF and medication - any GPs?

How very lazy of me, I know. I am fairly sure I have a fungal nail infection in my toenails (delightful, I know) and I have been told there are pills I can take to get rid of it. But can I take them while still BF-ing? Or should I not bother going to the doctor until I am done? If anyone knows this would be much appreciated.

ooh, i could ask the same question!

I think there's a cream too that you can use. apparently (overheard in the pharmacy) it can take about 6 months to clear it completely.

A pharmacist should know, though, but you'll need to say what they are...

Tell us the name of the drug and I'll / we'll look it up for you!

I speak as a woman with very fungally nails that appeared in pregnancy and I only noticed post birth when I could finally see my feet again!

I saw my GP, had to send of toe nail clippings (very disgusting) to confirm that it was fungal. It was but as I'm BFing I can't take the pills, instead I was given Trosyl (tioconazole) liquid to paint on. Apparently it can take up to 6 months for it to work and I'll have to go back to see the GP when I finish the first bottle for them to check my nails and write me another prescription.

I'm hoping that by the time we get to summer my feet will be fit to be seen in flip flops!

Thank you, it may be worth a wee visit then and I can start painting it on too!
