DS is 19 weeks and currently has four 8oz bottles a day. I also sometimes give him an extra 4oz bottle mid afternoon if he wants one. He weighs 17lbs 6oz and put on 10oz last week. He seems to want a bottle earlier and earlier. Should I give him more bottles or not? I've just given him a 5oz bottle and then will give him another around 11.30 before his long mid day nap because he was crying for food when normally I'd just give him his 8oz one before his nap. Is this OK? I don't want to be giving him too much extra food or should I just give him as much formula as he wants?

i gave my ds as much as he wanted........he's been known to finsih off 45oz in a day....
now i'm weaning he's starting to drop his milk intake but not by a huge amount.

my health visitor always quotes the words 'growth spurt' at me whenever ds ups his appetite but i'm generally coming round to the belief that if they want/ask for it they probably need it.

do you have a routine of any sorts? i found ds's feeding habits hard to understand until i eased him into a three hourly routine, but he still wants an extra bottle now and then. i think he does it to keep me on my toes

hmm when ds was that age he was having 5-6 bottles a day, but only around 5oz in each one.

you could try giving him less in each bottle but more feeds overall?

Give him as much as he wants. You may have to change feeding times too. Do your bottles go up to 9oz?
