Hello, wondered if anyone would have any advice. I'm breastfeeding my DS who is 7mths. He is weaning so has about 4-5 feeds a day. I have a stomach bug, not kept anything down since last night, I am trying to keep down water. When should I be concerned that this will effect my milk supply? The thought of any food churns my stomach but I'm a little concerned that I haven't eaten. Any advice? Thanks.

No advice but plenty of sympathy.

I had this last week, spent all of Friday night/Saturday morning being sick. The first meal I had was on Monday night, on Saturday and Sunday I'd had a couple of slices of toast and tried to get fluids into myself but I was still feeling really queasy. DS is 14 wks and was totally unaffected by it and seemed to feed as normal throughout.

While it's horrible it wont effect your supply. Try to drink water to thirst so you don't get dehydrated and start eating again when your ready.

Hope you feel better soon.

Stomach bugs are grim (I have just had one yesterday/today!) but there are anti-emetic meds that are compatible with bfing - see Wendy Jones' FB page Breastfeeding and Medication for more details here (Wendy Jones runs the BfN's Drugs and Breastmilk helpline and is a pharmacist/bfc).

me too, took some anti-sickness tablets as I had to drive 2 hours home yesterday.

Although I'm not worried about him I've been taking dioralyte for me which I've managed to get down. Stop be nearly falling over every time I stand, especially as it was just me and DS (4 months) on the trip.

Here's hoping we're well tomorrow for when partners return to work
