Can anyone tell me more about this for boosting supply?

Also, does anyone know of any websites that offer quick delivery that sell it? (lazy I know lol)

I used it for both my DS1 and DS2&3 (twins) - I just don't seem to have an abundant supply.
Usual dose is 2 or 3 capsules 3 times a day - takes about 2-3 days to kick in - then adjust up or down as suits you.

I bought mine online from here - based in Norwich - will also order over the phone - usually very prompt delivery.

Does fenugreek really work? I have a 3 month old who has spent the last FOUR days feeding constantly during the day. I know about growth spurts, but this is ridiculous. My supply does not seem to have increased to allow him to settle better after a feed and he is fussing and whining at the breast. Like AlishasMum, I am also lazy and have just tried the powder (bought off the spices shelf in Sainsbury's!) I did mix it with juice, but boy is it revolting! Can someone out there let me know if it has worked for them and I will persevere with the powder - even better fork out for the more Mommy-friendly tablets. Failing that, I am going to have to start supplementing which I do not want to have to do yet cos I am sick of the sight of this sofa

Evanmum, don't know much about fenugreek but have lived through a 12 week growth spurt and it does end. Just saying as most of my friends gave up bf at this point and some subsequently regretted it. Those of us who carried on found that, by and large, it only gets better from now on in.

Am partly reminding myself of this as am in 11 week feeding hell at the moment and also am sick of settee! Hope this helps.

Thanks Epigirl. Sitting typing with ds1 fast asleep on lap - and has been for 2 hours (hence lots of Mumsnet posting and thank Heaven for Broadband!) I also have a little respite from the growth spurt - plus I have no idea where we keep our washing machine

Would still like to know anyone's experiences with Fenugreek. I am sure that the only way to boost your milk supply is to stick with it and let ds feed all the time, but 'cheating with Fenugreek' sounds really appealling at the moment - assuming it works, that is.

Could have sworn I answered yesterday! Must be going loopy. Anyway, yes, I'm firmly convinced that Fenugreek works, I used it myself on-and-off for about 4-5 months, basically until dd started solids. I got my capsules from my local health shop. I think they have a website, but I don't know the url, sorry. The shop is called Revital.

One way you can tell when you have found the correct minimum dose for you, is that you start smelling of maple syrup! It takes a couple of days for the smell to develop, and I always noticed mild engorgement or discomfort under my armpits within a day of noticing the smell.

Make sure you drink plenty of water when you take the capsules, not only because you need water to make milk, but because the fenugreek absorbs masses of water and goes jelly-like as it does so. This also helps your bowels along.

Just remembered a link that might be of interest to you: breastfeedingonline.com

There has been quite a lot of discussions on Mumsnet mentioning domperidone and fenugreek, so you might like to do a search on those.
