Been having massive problems breastfeeding....
I have had a blocked milk duct on my LHS twice during the last 10 days, I managed to sort this out without antibiotics, but I think there is a problem with the positioning on that side. I also have some blistering on that side too - it's incredibly painful feeding. The BF supporter that I saw this week seemed to think she has got lazy and isn't opening her mouth enough, but I end up trying to reposition her over and over again and it still hurts. The feeds are so long, at least an hour each and there was a suggeston that she gets tired out trying to get the milk and just falls asleep. My baby's weight gain is very slow - just 3lbs in 14 weeks, and I think if I could sort the positioning out that would be better too. I saw an amazing BF expert over the weekend, but it is still incredibly painful to feed.
I'm just so close to giving up - although even the thought of this is so upsetting, this is my last baby and I wanted to feed her for a year like my first. It was all going so well up until the last couple of weeks....
She is constantly trying to chew her fingers between feeds, could she be teething and therefore chewing on my LHS? And, would expressing off the bad side help?
Thanks in advance.

pink so sorry that you are having prolems. I'm not trained and hopefully someone will be along soon who is.

Just wondered if you have seen ? Also, when you say you are seeing a Bfing Supporter and a Bfing expert, are they trained Breastfeeding Counsellors? If not, it might be worth trying one of the main charities like NCT, LLL or ABM. Have you got their numbers?

pink - this is complicated, isnt it? I think your baby's slow weight gain, your blocked ducts and your pain are all related. I don't think everything can have been going as well as you think :(

I am assuming your baby has been checked out for tongue tie.

The idea that babies get 'lazy' is a poor one - hope that did not come from the person supposed to be helping you :(

The bf expert you saw - what happened?

Thank you both!! :)
I think I have turned a corner with all this now, the bf councelllors I saw on Monday identified that I have a milk bleb (milk blister), they said this has caused nipple stretching and blistering. I have been applying olive oil and expressing to get every last bit of milk out. The milk blister has now gone and I'm hoping that lots and lots of lansinoh will make it all perfect again soon.
