Suddenly sleeping lots

I feel like I am on here asking lots of questions at the moment....

My ds is 11 weeks. After a fairly consistent pattern of feeding 9pm, 1am, 5am and 7am, for the last 2 nights he has slept way longer than 'normal'. The first night was from 9pm to 6am. To be honest, I was so sleep deprived I went with it though I woke up with rock solid leaking boobs wondering if he was Ill. Last night he slept from 7pm until 2am when he started thumb sucking but no crying so I picked him up to feed. Then he slept through until 7am. Both of these were little feeds. Again my boobs were solid and leaking all over the pillow as he took much less than normal.

Can anyone tell me what it happening? Will my supply suffer or is he poorly or something? He actually gets most of his nutrition at night because that is when my supply is highest. I also enjoy night feeds as it's warm, dark, quiet and cwtchy (welsh word for cuddly)!

Can anyone advise?

Many thanks..

I can only go by my own experience and anecdotes of friends, but my DS started sleeping much better around 3 months too. It was great to sleep but my bowling ball boobs were awful! They did adjust over a week or so though.

Sad to say it all went to pot with 4 month sleep regression, and he now feeds more than ever at night, so for now, sleep on a towel and enjoy the extra kip!

He's sleeping through! It's what most people dream of ( or would if only they could get some sleep) both my bf babies did it at about the same state, your boobs will very quickly adapt.

Enjoy it whilst you can. I used to wear a mothercare 'secret support' vest thingy in bed, and fold a muslin into it for those leaky nights. Your breasts should adjust over a week or so if he is going to start sleeping more - but keep an eye open for blocked ducts / mastitis (and see www.kellymom.com if suspecting probs).

Sometimes when they've had a growth spurt they are more tired, or perhaps he's just reached a different 'stage'. HTH.

You're doing great, enjoy the rest, sadly it won't last!!

If he was hungry he wouldn't sleep. I'm sure he catches up during the day, your poor boobs will adjust.

Thanks for the encouragement. I should just relax and enjoy it then.... Has slept from six - 10.30 tonight so far.... Have actually managed to get some stuff in the house done!

Are there any times when you should worry about them sleeping long stretches then, or is that just newborns? He weighs abou 13 lbs now.

Thanks
