whats green poo mean?
my ds2 will be 8 wks on sunday, was exclusively bf for 3/4 wks, then i started topping up of an evening as i couldnt take the pace, his poo was yellow but for the past 3 days has gone back to a dark green colour. hes on 17th centile, weighs 10lb(was 7lb 15oz@birth), bf on demand thru day and cluster feeds at night till 10pm, when i give 3oz of formula and he then goes to sleep, i then give 3-4oz of formula at midnight(dreamfeed) then he sleeps till 7am or later most days(has done since top ups introduced at about 4wks)
does it mean anything? should i be worried?

Im not 100% sure but I think when they are breast fed poo is yellow. In bottle fed babies poo can be green so you are getting the green poo coming through because youve added in a bottle feed. I recall this happening with my daughter when I added in a bottle feed. (It was 6 years ago though)You say gone back to green. Do you mean like when he was first born?

if the green poo was because of the formula it would've started when he started having it.is he gaining weight steadily?(havent got my red book handy!)i'd say that if the poo carries on being green, then have a word with your hv.my dd is bf,and her poo went through lots of colour changes!she has cf though, and is now 17 months and we usually get a different colour with each nappy!!(dont panic,i'm not saying your ds has cf!!)

just thought, have you eaten anything spicey?i remember eating a curry whilst bfeeding my ds and his poo went funny colour after i'd had that.

Usually means absolutely nothing. It's just one of the beautiful rainbow hues that baby poo comes in. I am sure he is fine. Both mine had green poos every so often (sometimes very green) and are bouncing with health at age 4 and nearly one respectively. People sometimes 'blame' too much foremilk, but I don't think that is true and just gives you something to worry about. I assume you are getting plenty of wees and poos and your baby is happy and alert when awake etc? If the weight gain continues to be good then your baby sounds fine to me.

I agree with Aloha. Our DS was totally bf & did green poo once when he was about 4 weeks. Who knows what it is! Don't worry!

Could mean to much foremilk. It happens to my DS2
