I had to stop breastfeeding very suddenly last tuesday because I started chemotherepy for a molar pregnancy. DD accepted it much better than i thought she would (she's 16mo). The problem now is I am still producing milk, its been ten days since dd fed. initially i was expressing to ease the pain then after a few days i stopped as i didn't want to encourage supply. But i'm still getting pain and now my boobs are getting lumpy so i'm having to express. I've tried the cabbage leaves, Didn't work. What if anything can i do to get it to stop.

I'm sorry to hear you're still struggling with this. The less you express, the sooner it will end, so I'd just express enough to take away the lumpiness.

I know they used to give drugs to stop lactation, but they tended to cause strokes, I think. I'm afraid I think you just have to wait it out.

I took about a month to dry up completely when I stopped bf suddenly. Takes lots of neurofen. But I think it is just a case of waitiing it out.
