When do they come back? Ds is almost 14 months and prob feeds 3 times a day and 1-2 at night. Is this normal?

For some women they come back early (5 weeks, grrrr). For others it can be 18 months +. It's likely that once the night feeds go, you'll see your cycle start up again.

Are you wanting to ttc? You could also be pregnant of course. Grin

Think it sounds perfectly normal to me. With both of mine I was feeding in a similar pattern to you and mine came back at around 18 months.

Are you TTC? Have you read this on bfing and fertility?

ImpOfThePerverse · 26/01/2012 20:25

DS2 is just over a year old and I haven't had one yet, I'm enjoying this while it lasts! Grin

I can see it would be a pain if you were ttc though.

bigbadbarry · 26/01/2012 20:28

I just got mine back a week after DD3's 2nd birthday! She is my best so far, it was 21 and 22 months after the other two :) I saw it as a blessing

OPeaches · 26/01/2012 20:45

DD is almost 11 months and I've no period back yet. She is fed every two sodding hours at night and not at all during the day as I am at work.

pinkyp · 26/01/2012 22:16

Not ttc at the min but would like to sometime in the future. I never thought I'd miss it but it's almost 2 years since I last had one, are they bad when they come back?

I got my period back once DD started sleeping through the night. She was about 13 months old and still on four feeds in the day, but I think it was the big (10-12 hour) gap in feeding that restarted my periods.

KD0706 · 26/01/2012 22:44

And it wasn't particularly painful for me. But I just had one period then got pregnant so I'm not particularly experienced!

Anecdotally, it seemed to be about 6 weeks after stopping night feeds for most of me and my friends - so about 17 months for me as my LO loved her night feeding.

AngelDog · 27/01/2012 20:52

Mine came back at 22 months post partum. DS was having 6-8 day feeds and 1-5 night feeds though.

They'd have come back sooner if he fed less IMO - he went on partial strike for a fortnight and I had pre-menstrual type cramping which stopped after a week, when he resumed normal feeds again.

Every woman is different (and apparently it can vary with different children of the same mother).

I've not heard about them being particularly bad. The cramping I had during DS's strike was about as bad as usual. Since then I discovered I'm intolerant to lactose, and cutting out dairy has reduced my PMT and period pains by about 80%. Grin

It was 'bad' in the sense of having forgotten how to deal with basic stuff like remembering you can't go swimming unless you have tampons etc. It's amazing how you forget. Hmm
