I wonder if anyone can help? My hv has recommended I put dd2 on Milumil milk due to her not settling and we want to dealy weaning as she's only 14 weeks. I've had a look and can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know who might stock this? I've tried boots website but with no luck, thanks!

Ask your HV - she should surely only recommend stuff she knows mothers can buy, yes?

I haven't seen Milumil for years and years.

It's Milupa's casein-dominant brand. Other manufacturers do something equivalent.

The casein takes longer to break down in the stomach as the protein is 'tougher' to metabolise. This is why it is sometimes suggested for babies who are unsettled.

There is no decent research on this, though.

Hi there, when you say she's not settling, what do you mean ?

Bugsy2 · 19/01/2006 15:29

I used Aptimil for my horribly colicky baby, which is made by Milupa who are the same people who used to make Milumil. Perhaps it is the same stuff.

Worked with a very old fasioned hv who was the last person i hear of reccommeding mulumil!!!
If your still want to by it have seen it in larger branches of sommerfield

Bugsy, not the same stuff - aptamil is whey-based.

baby is very large for her age, nearly 16lbs and only 14 weeks. she's on hungry baby cow and gate but that doesn't seem to be doing the trick so hv suggested this milk as for some reason it's supposed to work better than the usual 'hungry baby' formula. Thank you for all your responses, I've phoned everywhere near with no luck but have just tried boots who have it so dh has just gone to pick some up. Don't have a somerfield near me! Anyway she'll only be on it until weaning then I can put her back on Cow & Gate as apparantly milumil doesn't have the same LCP's? thanks again !

by unsettled I mean waking for a feed every 2 and a half hours during the night (and drinking a good 6ozs each time) also not settling as well during feeds during the day.

Hi. My ds was exactly the same. very very hungry. He was on Aptimal 1 then 2 and like you my hv suggested milumil. I couldnt find it for ages but found it one day in boots. It costs £6.99 big yellow tub. It definatley helped my ds and he is still on it now at 20 weeks.
Hope you can find it. I have never seen it stocked anywhere else, sorry.
