DD is 20 weeks tomorrow and for a couple of weeks not I have noticed my breasts leaking again. Occasionally not all the time and not everday.

Can stress cause this?
Also I have been having issues with the pill injection which I had my second one off 2 weeks ago on the GP's advice could it be related to these problems? Constant discharge and bleeding.

Hi nunnie

I'm not one of the experts on here but didn't want your post to go unanswered.

Do you mean you didn't breastfeed, the milk went away but has now returned? If so from what I've read this is normal as the hormones prolactin and oxytocin (responsible for stimulating the production of milk) will still be at elevated levels in your body. Also as you produce oxytocin when orgasming milk usually squirts then too Grin

The pill injection could be responsible to so talk to your GP or a breastfeeding councillor for further advice (even if you're not breastfeeding, they'll be able to advise you on the leaking milk)

Hi thank you for your reply. I went to the GP as still getting other problems with the pill injection. Mentioned the leakage without stimulation I have had blood test to check prolactin levels, have googled and pooped so not looking again, till I get results.
To answer your question, I didn't breastfeed my daughter and milk had stopped completely about 8 weeks. Have got some tablets for other problems, which haven't worked yet but am holding out hope they do before the course ends. Leaking is still happening though.
I am convinced it is related to the injection, but the GP can not find any evidence that the injection has breat leaking as a side effect anywhere so has written that possibility off. May redress the issue when I see her again if results are clear.
Not that it matters, I am not having another injection it isn't worth the hassle, will find an alternative.

Update. Tets were all clear. GP researched and contacted family planning specialists and it turns out it is a reported side effect of the pill injection. So am now unable to have any hormone based contraception for another 3 months. Leaking has now stopped.
